With 25 years of Art and Design classroom teaching behind me, I now work as a freelance artist, art teacher [providing workshops for adults, children and families across Warwickshire and the West Midlands] and also gallery technician. Inspired by 2 excellent Chinese teachers and a 4 year residency in South Korea, my work is inspired by East Asian brush-and-ink and global sculpture traditions. I trained in Theatre Design (at Nottingham Trent University) and, for a short time, once upon a time, worked in the professional theatre. I still have those skills and have continued to support amateur theatre companies around the UK, giving me skills in scene-painting, costume-making and technical drawing, but I'm happiest when constructing a sculpture of an orangutan from found materials or drawing it with ink and a set of beautiful brushes.
